This Week in Tech: Galaxy S26 Price Hike, YouTube Cracks Down on Reposts, New Kindles

Every Friday I round up the biggest tech stories of the week. Here is what mattered.

1. Samsung hikes the Galaxy S26 to $999.99

Another $100 added in the US. The base model is now $999.99, which is $200 more than the S25 was at launch. The blame goes to AI-driven memory costs.

Real question: is a $999 base Galaxy still worth it? That is flagship Ultra money from a few years ago, now the starting price.

2. Samsung unveils the Galaxy A08

On the other end of the lineup, the Galaxy A08 launched in Singapore at S$278. It comes with Gemini and Perplexity AI agents, a 6,000mAh battery, and six years of software updates. That is a wild value package.

3. YouTube changes the Shorts algorithm

Big one for creators. YouTube is boosting original creators and cutting reach for repost channels. Voiceover over someone else's clips no longer counts as original.

As someone who makes original content every day, this is a W. The repost farms had it coming.

4. Amazon rebuilds the entire Kindle lineup

Flush-front displays, thinner and lighter bodies, and a first-ever aluminum option. The Kindle finally gets the premium treatment.

The Shorts change is the story I will be watching closest. If you are a creator making original work, your reach should go up from here. Drop your take in the comments and do not forget to follow for more.
