Retro handhelds are the perfect gift. They hit the nostalgia button and they are actually fun to use. Here are the ones I have tested and would gift myself.
Anbernic RG SP
The flip. This is the one that blew up for a reason. Clamshell design, pocketable, and it plays the classics beautifully. If you only buy one handheld gift this year, make it this one.
Anbernic RG Slide
The slider. Same Anbernic quality in a slide-up form factor that feels great in the hands. A killer pick for anyone who grew up on slide phones and PSPs.
Anbernic RG DS Plus
Dual screen retro gaming done right. If they loved the DS era, this is the gift. The Plus model is the one to get.
Anbernic RG DS
The standard DS model. Still a great gift at a friendlier price if the Plus is more than you wanted to spend.
Anbernic RG Vita Pro
For the Vita fans. This is the love letter to everyone who still says the Vita was ahead of its time. Because it was.
Retroid Pocket 5
The step-up pick. More power, beautiful screen, handles tougher games without breaking a sweat. For the person who already has a handheld and wants the upgrade.
Retroid Pocket Flip 2
The clamshell for people who want more power than the budget flips. Best of both worlds: pocketable design with real performance behind it.
My honest take: the RG SP is the safest gift on this list. The Retroid Pocket 5 is the best gift for someone already deep in the hobby. Do not forget to follow for more.
